Changes announced for Pokémon TCG Pre-release Tournaments

Changes have been announced for Pokémon TCG pre-release tournaments aiming to make the tournaments more competitive and fun! Pokémon TCG pre-release events are events which take place roughly two weeks before the release of a new TCG expansion.

For future expansions, the format of pre-release tournaments will be different. Rather then just building a deck out of the booster packs you were given, each player now receives a special ‘pre-release box’. The box contains a 22-card pre-release pack, plus four 10-card booster packs as well as an exclusive foil promo card. Players will be able to use the cards from their pre-release box, plus basic Energy cards to build a 40-card deck. When playing in pre-release events, players will start with only 4 Prize cards, due to the smaller deck count.

Nothing is known yet as to what the 22-card pre-release pack will provide, so keep checking back for details!

Disclaimer: It is still unknown whether Australia will implementing these changes.

  1. So they are doing the magic thing, this will be interesting, how good it will be though heavily depends on those stacked packs.
